A Mistake

Ever since I was a little boy playing golf with my father, I’ve always dreamt of winning the Masters. Last year I wasn’t eligible to qualify, but this year, especially with the Harbour Town title under my belt, I thought I had a legitimate chance. With millions of dollars and fame comes great responsibility and perhaps I wasn’t ready to handle that responsibility. I apologise to my fans who I have let down by my recent actions. I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise to my sponsors, Nike and TAG Heuer, for bringing their respective companies into disrepute. I will be appealing the PGA’s proposed ban of a year from the tour, but I will also work hard with the golfing community in the future, to ensure that young golfers in similar situations as me, follow the right path. I will attend rehabilitation as soon as my appeal is processed, provided it doesn’t interfere with my golfing and sponsorship committments.

This will be my last post guys,

Thank you for all the messages of support that I’ve been receiving to my email

They’re greatly appreciated

Sponsorship, Ads & Money

Sorry guys I haven’t written for a while. I’ve been in LA shooting some advertisements for my new sponsor Nike. After my tournament victory over Tiger Woods at Harbour Town, the sponsors have been clamouring to get a piece of me and Nike was the one who offered the best price. $12 million a year in endorsements. I couldn’t turn that down. I had one condition though. I would never be on the same advertisement or have to work in conjunction with Tiger. I can’t stand the guy. His claims in the papers last week about my chances in the upcoming Masters were insulting and self-serving. Not only am I looking to usurp his position as World Number One, I’m now also looking to overtake him at Nike as their premier brand name.

I will say this though. My chances at the Masters in two weeks are good…very good. I played a couple of practice rounds in LA at their amazing Red Rock Mountain course and according to the markers, I was driving 310+ off the tee. My short game was also impressive, constantly bombing the ball pin height with that little bit of backspin that makes any golfer cry. I don’t care who I say this to, I will win the Masters.

Here’s one of the new Nike Advertisements, which should shortly go up on their website:

Day’s Weekly Tip #2

Putting:

The problem with most people when they putt is they don’t take their time. I like to line up the putt, step up to the ball, visualise the ball rolling into the cup, before taking two easy practice swings to judge the tempo that I should strike the ball at. From here, I move into my stance, take one last look at the hole, before swinging through, focusing on locking the arms and following through.

The second problem that people have is the actual striking of the ball. The follow through is probably one of the most important but neglected aspects of any putt. Many mid to high handicappers seem to stab at the ball, rather than swinging through gently. This can be refined by locking the arms at the point of contact, and focusing on keeping your swing plane smooth like a pendulum. If this is too hard and you need a method to instill it into your routine, place two tees either side of your putter. Then practice swinging through the gateway that it creates gently, focusing on locking the arms and ensuring that the club face doesn’t turn. I guarantee you that your putting will improve dramatically! It worked for me!

Recovery:

Play safe, unless Matchplay deems you need to take a risk. That is all.

A Couple Of Photos From My Victory At Harbour Town Links

I’ve been searching everywhere on the net the past couple of days for photos from my rounds at Harbour Town. I was actually surprised by how many photos had been posted! Seems like I’m getting more popular by the minute…

Last night

Not feeling the best after last night… Went out with my best buddy Camillo to celebrate my victory and only managed to find my way home by 8 this morning. Was greeted by a copy of the New York Times on my doorstep, which has details of my victory on the backpage. I’ll post it up here for you guys to read, but I feel terrible. I need sleep. If anyone has a good cure for a hangover, please post it as a comment.

Round Four…Return of the King

All I’m going to say is…look at the scoreboard. Actually, no, I’m going to say much more than that. 65 in a final round to win the tournament. Brilliant. I played brilliantly and Woods, well, he just couldn’t match it now could he? It’ll be interesting to see what the Woods loving media makes of his defeat. Whether they write me up positively or negatively…Truth be told, I’m expecting positive feedback because the way I played in the final round was absolutely amazing. It started on the first tee where my drive sailed down the middle of the fairway, before my approach to the green settled within one metre of the flag. A simple tap in for birdie and I was on the move. My only stumbling point was probably the par 3, 14th hole, where I knocked my tee shot high into the wind, which only served to carry it left into the greenside bunker. On second thought, I probably should’ve hit a knockdown punch to keep it out of the wind and out of trouble. On another day, I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing that I’d done something that stupid, but today, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I’m just so happy. So relieved. I’ve won a PGA Tournament. I’ve gone head to head with that arrogant world “number one” and come out on top.

I may not have shown it but the past couple of weeks have really taken their toll on me. I burst onto the scene in 2006 and after a brief love affair with the media, it seemed like they had completely turned against me. I hope this and my recent “no comment” policy will go some way as to winning them back to my side. Although I know I’m going to struggle not to say something about this. This victory is just too sweet.

Round Three

Eight under and a share of the lead heading into the final round. Not bad, except for the fact that I’ve been paired with Tiger Woods. The media are loving it, just waiting for me to comment, waiting to spin a story against me. I’m not giving them anything, but I’m quietly confident I can beat Woods and take my career to the next level. When I win this, it’ll prove all the doubters wrong and knock Mr. Woods off his pedestal a bit.

Look what I found on the New York Times website tonight…a classic example of what the media are doing to this tournament and my career:
